9 Year old found dead in Ticonderoga after Amber Alert, father’s story now under scrutiny
9 year old found dead in upstate New York confirms her body was discovered Sunday in Ticonderoga, after her father’s claim of a possible kidnapping sparked an Amber Alert, according to New York State Police.
The girl, identified as Melina Galanis Frattolin, a 9-year-old Canadian, was last reported missing near Lake George on Saturday evening. Her father, Luciano Frattolin, claimed she was abducted by a man in a white van. A major, multi-agency search ensued, but investigators later found “inconsistencies” in his timeline.
By Sunday afternoon, Melina’s body was recovered in Ticonderoga, about 15 miles off the original scene. Authorities confirmed there is no sign of an abduction, and there is no threat to the public, but the cause of death remains unreleased.
State Police have taken over the investigation and plan to hold a press conference Monday. No arrests have been made yet, and Luciano’s whereabouts are unclear. Investigators are probing the discrepancies in his account and timeline.
