
President Donald Trump confirmed Monday that the United States will send more weapons to Ukraine, just days after his administration paused some military aid.

“We’re going to send some more weapons. We ha to. They have to be able to defend themselves,” Trump told reporters during dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Defensive weapons primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard. So many people are dying in that mess.

The decision follows a Pentagon announcement last week confirming a hold on deliveries of certain air defense systems, citing concern over U.S. stockpile levels. Trump had previously defended the pause, emphasizing the need to “make sure we have enough for ourselves.”
The delay sparked backlash from Ukraine supporters in Washington and across Europe, who warned the move could severely weaken Kyiv’s ability to fend off Russian attacks.

The U.S. has already provided tens of billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. While many Trump allies remain skeptical of continued support, Democrats and a few Republicans insist that pulling back would hand a strategic win to Vladimir Putin.
Trump also expressed dissatisfaction with Russia’s actions: “I’m disappointed, frankly, that President Putin hasn’t stopped. I’m not happy about it either.”
