2 Terrifying Minutes: Officer Dragged in Seagoville Police Car Chaos
Was a Seagoville officer seriously injured in the carjacking attempt?

A dramatic and dangerous police chase in Seagoville, Texas, ended in chaos Friday night as a police officer was injured after being dragged outside a moving patrol car by a fleeing suspect. Authorities say 36-year-old Brandon Boothe led officers on a pursuit in a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck before escalating the situation by hijacking a marked police vehicle.

The incident began just after 7 p.m. on July 27, when a Seagoville officer identified a stolen pickup on Seagoville Road. Boothe, the driver, refused to stop and entered I-20 in the wrong direction, prompting the officer to halt the chase to prevent a head-on collision.

But Boothe’s escape was far from over.

Another unit picked up the pursuit along the I-20 service road. Boothe then crossed into Ravenview Road, where he crashed into another vehicle. While the other driver was unharmed, Boothe fled on foot—only to jump into the driver’s seat of a Seagoville police cruiser.

What followed was a chaotic two-minute struggle, during which Boothe drove forward and in reverse with an officer partially inside the vehicle. The officer was repeatedly dragged, sustaining injuries to the face and legs.

What charges does Brandon Boothe now face?

Backup arrived just in time. A second Seagoville officer deployed a Taser and successfully subdued Boothe. He was arrested and taken to a local hospital for evaluation before being booked into Dallas County Jail.

Police say Boothe was armed—two handguns and ammunition were recovered from the original stolen truck. He now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Robbery
  • Aggravated assault on a public servant
  • Unauthorized use of a vehicle
  • Evading arrest with a vehicle
  • Two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon
  • Parole violation warrant

Despite the brutality of the event, the officer escaped with non-life-threatening injuries and was treated by EMS at the scene.
