2 People Found Dead in Blythe House Fire

Two people were found dead after a weekend house fire in Blythe, police say.

Two people were found dead inside a Blythe home that was destroyed by fire over the weekend, authorities said Monday.

The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau reported that the bodies of a man and a woman were discovered in a residence in the 200 block of S. Colorado River Road, near a mobile home park close to the Colorado River.

According to the Blythe Police Department, officers responded around 11 a.m. Sunday to a residential fire at the location. When they arrived, the home was already engulfed in flames.

“Neighbors and officers attempted to conduct a rescue for anyone inside; however, due to the extent of the fire, they were unable to enter the structure,” the department stated.

Fire crews put out the blaze, and during a search of the burned home, officers located the two deceased individuals inside.

Authorities said foul play is not suspected. “A preliminary examination indicates that the origin of the fire does not appear to be suspicious; however, the investigation remains ongoing,” the police department said.
