California Man Killed in Rollover Crash on US-6 Near Ely

California man dies in rollover crash on US-6 near Ely, Nevada, on Aug. 5.

A California man was killed in a rollover crash on U.S. Highway 6 near Ely on August 5, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to a report of a vehicle crash near mile marker 46 in White Pine County at approximately 9:10 p.m. The site is about eight miles east of Ely.

A preliminary investigation determined that a white Oldsmobile Cutlass was traveling west in the westbound lane when the driver failed to safely navigate a curve and went off the right side of the road.

The vehicle hit two reflective marker posts and crossed over a drainage ditch. The front end struck the side of the ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof.

The driver, identified as 68-year-old Booker Washington of Fairfield, California, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nevada Highway Patrol’s Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
