The New York Jets have acquired veteran defensive tackle Harrison Phillips from the Minnesota Vikings in a late-round draft pick swap.
According to NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero, New York will send a 2026 sixth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round selection to Minnesota in exchange for Phillips. The Jets will also receive a 2027 seventh-round pick as part of the deal.
The move was the Jets’ second trade for a defensive tackle on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, New York acquired Jowon Briggs from the Cleveland Browns.
Phillips, a Stanford product, joined the Vikings in 2022 on a three-year, $19.5 million contract after four seasons with the Buffalo Bills. He remained a fixture on Minnesota’s defensive line from 2022 to 2024.
Throughout his career, Phillips has been consistent, appearing in double-digit games in all but one of his seven NFL seasons. He has recorded 50 or more tackles in each of the past four years.
Off the field, Phillips has earned recognition for his community involvement, receiving consideration for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award three times.
With two years left on an extension signed in 2024, he now joins a Jets team looking to contend in its first season under new head coach Aaron Glenn.
For Minnesota, the trade creates salary cap savings this year and next while the team seeks to add a veteran wide receiver.
