On May 30, 2025, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents executed a criminal search warrant at Buona Forchetta, an Italian restaurant in San Diego’s South Park neighborhood. The operation led to the arrest of several employees, drawing significant attention and concern from the local community.
According to a Homeland Security Investigations special agent, the action was part of an ongoing investigation. Witnesses reported that approximately ten federal agents entered the restaurant during business hours, handcuffing staff members and leading them away.
Claire Cody, an employee present during the incident, described the scene as distressing. “Ten federal agents came into part of our restaurant. They handcuffed my manager, saying they had a search warrant, and I just started crying because i knew what was happening,” Cody recounted.

The arrests at the South Park restaurant prompted a swift response from the community. A crowd gathered outside, expressing their disapproval and recording the events. At one point, agents used what appeared to be a smoke device to disperse the crowd and facilitate their departure.
The incident has sparked discussions about immigration enforcement practices and their impact on local communities. As the situation develops, further details are expected to emerge regarding the reasons behind the ICE arrests at the South Park restaurant.
