Alex Cooper Booed by Cubs Fans During Off-Key Wrigley Field Performance

Podcast star Alex Cooper was met with a chorus of boos at Wrigley Field after delivering a dramatic and off-key version of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” during the Chicago Cubs’ seventh-inning stretch on Sunday.

Known for her hit podcast Call Her Daddy, Cooper was initially cheered as she took the mic, playfully telling the crowd, “You’ve never seen something like this.” But as she launched into a throaty, low-register performance, complete with exaggerated gestures and backup dances, many in attendance began to express frustration.

While some fans laughed and sang along, others visibly disapproved, especially as the performance ended with an awkward attempt to lift Cooper on the shoulders of her companions.

The appearance was part of the “Big AI’s Takeover” promotion. Fans who purchased special tickets received a Cubs jersey featuring Cooper’s Unwell branding. The Cubs’ site had hyped her participation, but the unusual delivery caught many off guard.

The tradition, made legendary by broadcaster Harry Caray, is a cherished moment at Cubs games. Though Cooper appeared to enjoy herself, many fans felt the moment missed the mark.
