Andy Byron Resigns After Coldplay ‘Cheating’ Scandal Goes Viral

Andy Byron resigns after 'cheating' scandal.

Andy Byron resigns from Astronomer CEO role after public scandal during Coldplay concert.

Andy Byron resigns as CEO of tech firm Astronomer following a viral moment during Coldplay concert where he was caught on camera with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, in what’s been labeled a “cheating” scandal.

The incident took place at Gillette Stadium in Boston, where their smiling faces appeared on the Coldplay kiss cam in front of 55,000 people. The footage, showing both trying to hide their faces, has since spread widely online.

Astronomer said in a statement that Byron failed to meed company standards, leading to his resignation. The board accepted his decision and announced that Cofounder Pete DeJoy will act as interim CEO while a replacement is sought.

The company added:

“Our leaders are expected to set the standards in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.”

Byron had worked at Astronomer for more than two years. Former employees reacted to the scandal with public mockery and celebration, calling Byron “toxic” and “sales-obsessed.”
