
On June 8, 2025, country singer Conner Smith was involved in a fatal car accident in Nashville that claimed the life of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins.

Connor Smith, 24, was driving a Chevrolet Silverady pickup truck northbound on 3rd Avenue North near Van Buren Street a well traveled area in Germantown near a dog park at approximately 7:30 p.m., the final evening of CMA Fest.
Dobbins was crossing at a marked crosswalk when she was struck. She was immediately transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she later passed away.
Preliminary Cause & Investigation
Police identified the collision’s likely cause as Smith’s failure to yield the right of way to the pedestrian.
No evidence of impairment such as alcohol or drug use was found. At present, there are no charges filed, and Nashville authorities continue their investigation.

Issued through attorney Worrick G. Robinson, Smith expressed heartfelt condolences:
“On June 8th, Mr.Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. His heart goes out to Ms.Dobbins’ family… Mr.Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.”
Representatives emphasized this was a tragic accident, and the singer was neither distraction affected nor under the influence.
