Irving road rage shooting leaves one injured Friday morning

One person injured in Irving road rage shooting, expected to survive.

An Irving road rage shooting injured one person on Friday morning, according to police.

The Irving Police Department stated in a Facebook news release that officers responded to the 1900 block of E. Union Bower after receiving several reports of a gunshot victim.

Officers located an individual with a gunshot wound and administered “lifesaving measures,” the release said. The victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

Preliminary investigations indicated the incident happened during early morning traffic. The victim was driving a black Chevrolet Silverado when a white Ford Explorer began following closely behind, the release said.

A person in the Ford Explorer then pulled alongside the Silverado, rolled down the passenger window, and began shooting, according to police.

“It’s believed that the shooting took place between the Shady Grove and Union Bower exits,” the release stated.

In June, Governor Greg Abbott signed a bill making road rage shootings a first-degree felony starting September 1.
