In a blockbuster three-team NBA trade finalized this week, Norman Powell has been traded to the Miami Heat, with John Collins heading to the Los Angeles Clippers and Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a 2027 second-round pick going to the Utah Jazz, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
At 32 years old, Norman Powell is coming off a standout season with the Clippers, where he averaged a career-high 21.8 points across 60 games. He also shot a stellar 42% from three point range, proving to be one of the league’s most efficient scoring guards. With the Heat aiming to strengthen their offense and perimeter shooting, Powell’s arrival marks a significant addition to Miami’s backcourt depth and veteran scoring punch.
Meanwhile, John Collins, age 27, will now suit up for the Clippers after spending the last season with the Utah Jazz. In a 40 games for the Jazz, Collins averaged 19 points and six rebounds, continuing to show his value as a versatile forward who can strengthen the floor and finish above the rim. His presence is expected to provide the Clippers with much-needed athleticism and front court scoring.
As a part of the deal, the Utah Jazz acquired two veterans and future draft asset. Kevin Love, a five time NBA All-Star, averaged 5.3 points and 4.1 rebounds in 23 appearances for the Heat last season. Although his on court production has declined in recent years, his leadership and experience remain valuable in a rebuilding environment.
Kyle Anderson, 31, who joined the Heat last season via trade from the Golden State Warrios, will also head to Utah. He contributed 6.7 points per game in 25 contests following the move to Miami and brings defensive versatility and high basketball IQ to the Jazz rotation.
Utah will also receive a 2017-second round pick from the Clippers, adding a future asset to their growing stockpile of draft capital as they continue to retool their roster with a mix of young talent and seasoned professionals.
This trade not only reshapes the rosters of all three franchises involved but also signals clear intentions from each team ahead of the upcoming season. The Heat get immediate offensive reinforcement with Normal Powell, the Clippers invest in youth and size acquiring JOhn Collins, and Jazz continue to balance long-term planning with experienced support.
As the NBA offseason continues, this multi-team trade sets the tone for potential future moves as teams position themselves for playoff contention.
