Fire weather watch issued for Shasta Cascade Tuesday

NWS issues Shasta Cascade fire watch for Tuesday afternoon through evening hours.

Fire weather watch will be in effect for the Shasta Cascade region Tuesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service in Medford. The alert covers Western Klamath National Forest, Central Siskiyou County including the Shasta Valley, areas east and south of the Cascades to Mount Shasta, and most of Modoc County except the Surprise Valley. “The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Fire Weather Watch, which is in effect from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening,” the agency wrote.

A fire weather watch indicates that critical fire conditions are possible. The watch is set to expire at 8 p.m., and forecasters urged residents to monitor later forecasts and be ready for possible red flag warnings.
