Texas hunters and anglers must renew their licenses for the 2025-26 season beginning Aug. 15.
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) stated that current-year hunting and fishing licenses, except the Year-from-Purchase All-Water Fishing Package, expire at the end of August.
Licenses for the new season will be available through the official TPWD website, in person at retail locations statewide, or at TPWD offices. Purchases can also be made by phone at 800-895-4248 during normal business hours, but TPWD cautioned that hold times may be long at the start of the season and during peak periods. A $5 administrative fee applies to online and phone transactions.
TPWD noted that all recreational licenses and endorsement stamps are now offered in a digital format. Digital licenses will be available through online purchase only starting Aug. 15. Holders must keep their license accessible on a mobile device while in the field or on the water, as no printed license or tags will be issued. Digital tags must be used through the Texas Hunt & Fish mobile app. Licenses can also be viewed via the Texas Hunt & Fish and TPWD Outdoor Annual apps.
