
President Donald Trump‘s health was evaluated on July 16, 2025, after he experienced noticeable in his lower legs, according to White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Speaking at a Thursday press briefing, Leavitt confirmed that Trump underwent comprehensive vascular testing, with all results falling “within normal limits.”

Leavitt told reporters that Trump had mentioned “mild swelling in his lower legs,” prompting immediate medical attention from the White House team. Doctors performed bilateral lower extremity intravenous Doppler ultrasounds. The finding revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a non-serious and common condition, especially for individuals over 70.
“There was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,” Leavitt said. “An echocardiogram also confirmed that cardiac structure and function were normal.”
Online speculation had emerged after photos circulated showing minor bruising on the back of Trump’s hand. Leavitt addressed this, attributing the marks to “minor soft tissue caused by frequent handshaking and aspirin use.”

The former president had undergone his annual physical earlier in April at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. That report, prepared by Capt. Sean P. Barbabella, had also described Trump as being “in excellent health.”
