Gunfight at Virginia Outdoor Gathering Leaves 1 Dead, 4 Injured

In the early hours of June 1, 2025, a tragic incident unfolded at a large outdoor gathering in Danville, Virginia. According to the Danville Police Department, a gunfight erupted between two groups around 1:30 a.m. on private property near the intersection of Carver Drive and Cheyenne Drive.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 22-year-old Jay’Shaun Tiejae White of Hurt, Virginia, deceased in Chrysler sedan parked in the roadway, having suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body. Another man, believed to have been driving the vehicle, was found nearby with a gunshot wound and transported to SOVAH Health hospital.

Three additional victims a 19 year old woman and two adult men later arrived at SOVAH Health in private vehicles, seeking treatment for gunshot injuries. As of Sunday afternoon, the three men remained hospitalized.

The Danville Police Department’s preliminary investigation indicates that gunshots were exchanged between individuals in the Chrysler and other attendees at the gathering. No arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to contact detectives.
